Go to the most beautiful natural place you know.  It needs to contain plants and animals.  You will need to concentrate, so sit or stand or walk, whatever helps you to concentrate.  You will also need to be able to empty your mind, so if you find this hard to do while walking, stop.

Reflections on the Matrix

I watched the Matrix yesterday. It’s an extraordinary film. Virtually every scene is perfect. Choreography, lighting, costume, sets, effects, tints, dialogue…it’s all exceptional. An interesting watch

I try to talk to people about all the things that are going on beyond our cozy world view, and mostly I just get blinked at. “Oh Alex is off on one again”.

Without wading through some pretty heavy books on anthropology, or meeting people who have all the details (I certainly don’t), it’s hard to shake yourself free of our culture, even for a moment, and really look at the world.

This video isn’t heavy, but it might give you a little window into the larger world. Maybe after you’ve watched it you’ll understand why I’m so angry and so frustrated, so often. It’s 22 minutes long. Get yourself a cuppa and enjoy.

Flesh and Illusion

First, let me say that I celebrate life. There are some philosophies and religions that do not – they say that suffering is a part of the process of living, so must find a way of altering the way we live to escape from suffering.
