A couple of days ago Moongazy lent me a copy of a handbook called The Wilderness Quest; For Vision and Self-healing by Dr Stephen Foster and Meredith Little. It’s an extraordinary little book, quite different from any “self help” or “spiritual” books I’ve flicked through before. It takes the reader, in very concrete and specific steps, through the preparation for a Vision Quest. None of the usual vagueness that one finds in most spiritual advice.
I was very moved by a section called The Death Lodge. Here it is… Continue Reading »

This question was asked of me yesterday by Dayve.
I said I would consider it. I think the first answer that comes to mind is: you know you can see when you remember yesterday, and you realise that things looked different then. I haven’t read everything on this website, but I can generally endorse http://www.futurescenarios.org/ It’s rare for me to endorse anything, let alone an entire website.
If you don’t have time to digest the whole site, this page would, I think, give you a good feel for what the site is about.

I try to talk to people about all the things that are going on beyond our cozy world view, and mostly I just get blinked at. “Oh Alex is off on one again”.
Without wading through some pretty heavy books on anthropology, or meeting people who have all the details (I certainly don’t), it’s hard to shake yourself free of our culture, even for a moment, and really look at the world.
This video isn’t heavy, but it might give you a little window into the larger world. Maybe after you’ve watched it you’ll understand why I’m so angry and so frustrated, so often. It’s 22 minutes long. Get yourself a cuppa and enjoy.
