Is this website for you?
The most striking thing that people remember about the Aztec culture was it’s use of human sacrifice. And when people learn that the druids also probably performed this rite, they are shocked. And yet, if there remain any impartial historians after our age, they will look back on our culture and they will call it a Cult of Death.
As far as I am concerned, if you are not in love with life, you are in love with death. Our culture kills at a genocidal rate, and with a similar compunction as the great dictators of the 20th Century. We see it all the time. Rainforests destroyed, ecosystems ravaged, the expansion of deserts, the extermination of indigenous tribes, the huge but unnoticed death toll on our roads… And the vast majority of us feel, at most, a passing regret that these things can happen. And they continue to give their power to those who support the annihilation of life.
I am a long, long way from being an expert in anything. But I know a few things, and I want to share them with those who are able to hear. I can’t make any of your decisions for you, and I can’t bring you to your own realisations. All I can do is share with you a few minor truths, to get the ball rolling, equip you with some tools, and help you to avoid getting stuck half way towards the goal. So I got thinking: how can I decide whether someone is Lost, or if they are ready to learn?
It begins with choice. If you choose to be part of this culture, to mimic it’s ways as best you can, to be the best possible actor, the best possible consumer, the child who will make your parents are proud as you can, to wear the most popular clothes and to eat the most decadent foods, to worship at temples that uphold patriarchal, politically convenient, anti-life gods; if you chose to chase the dreams and values of the Cult of Death, then please get off of my website. I have nothing to say to you, and though I weep at your choice, I cannot interfere with your freedom to hate all life.
If you choose life, if you want to live, then please read what I have to say, and enter into dialogue with me. This doesn’t mean you have to have all the answers to the massive challenges that face us: it just means that you have a feeling that something is wrong with the way we live, and as you feel your heart beat within your chest, so you want to go on living, and to live fully and well.
